If anyone could be adequately described as the funny fat man, it would be John Goodman. But while he successfully built a career for himself, piling up achievements and memorable roles on one side, he seemed to be endangering his health more and more. John himself said that he was always able to bounce back after gaining weight in his 30s or 40s, but it has become increasingly more difficult to do so in recent years. He then just cut down on booze and unhealthy habits and got in shape again, dropping 100 pounds.

Jordin Sparks became known to the wider audience when she came out as the winner of American Idol’s sixth season in 2007. Jordin, now the mother of one, cut out junk food from her menu and started working out on a daily basis, losing 50 pounds.

Queen Latifah – 30 pounds

While Queen Latifah has always openly admitted her love for her body, the actress and rapper had to make some radical changes in her lifestyle for both her health and looks. Besides being heavily involved in her line of work, being overweight began to heavily take its tool at a certain point. This prompted the weight loss attempt which left her down by 30 pounds in no time. Queen Latifah enjoys the status of an icon as a female rapper and is particularly praised for what she did during the ‘90s. She is also considered to pioneer feminism in hip-hop music and she even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Perez Hilton – 70 pounds

After poking fun at virtually everyone in Hollywood, Perez Hilton gained a less than ideal reputation for being the overweight gossip guru. His career as a blogger, columnist, and an overall prominent media personality has yielded Perez financial success. However, Perez battled being overweight and by 2008, he took his first significant step at weight loss. And while he insists the process was thoroughly organic, it seems hard to believe that he could have dropped 68 pounds in a short time without surgery or shortcuts. Whatever’s the case, he looks great and fit.

Al Roker – 100 pounds

For as long as we can remember, NBC’S weatherman Al Roker seemed to be in a never-ending battle with his excess pounds. It sure had minimal effect on his career, considering he was no more than a world-renowned weatherman, but still, his well-being was in question. Al later described the whole period as a fight to regain control over himself and his body. He said his excess weight affected his relationships and marriage even. Eventually, the weatherman called it quits with the additional pounds and underwent a gastric sleeve surgery, and the results are quite remarkable indeed.

Aretha Franklin – 100 pounds

Always known as the quite curvy lady, the late Aretha Franklin seemed less than interested in weight loss until she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Soon enough, she was incorporating a team of experts to help her change her lifestyle, and they began working toward making the legendary singer healthier than she had ever been. A hundred pounds down, and it looks like the team outdid themselves. Unfortunately, the legendary singer, songwriter, and pianist died on August 16, 2018, aged 76. She will always be remembered as ‘The Queen of Soul”.

Kelly Osbourne – 40 pounds

Cyberbullying was very familiar to Kelly Osbourne for she was growing up not caring much about her weight or looks, and as a child in the limelight, she felt the cruel stings of societal pressure. Kelly was later diagnosed with Lyme disease and the reality show star admitted she couldn’t keep her devil may care lifestyle anymore. With a few little tweaks to her eating habits combined with dancing and working out, Kelly was down 40 pounds and making giant strides in Hollywood. She was particularly grateful to her dance partner, Louis van Amstel, on Dancing with the Stars for encouraging her to take her first steps towards a better lifestyle.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi – 40 pounds

In the world of reality TV, Snooki needs no introduction. Between her outlandish party girl persona and her full figure, she gained a reputation for being quite the voluptuous party freak. After the birth of her first child in 2012, however, Snooki made her first attempt at weight loss which proved to generate quite the buzz in the celebrity news channels. Nonetheless, she insists that it was an attempt to get healthier rather than a publicity stunt. Snooki managed to shed weight effectively, and then she had done it again the next year after her second child came along. She dropped around 40 lbs and was an inspiration to many.

Dr. Dre – 50 pounds

The 54-year-old and still quite talented, Dr. Dre is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry even after 35 years in the biz. Unfortunately, despite his critical and commercial success, Dre battled his weight for most of his early career. He went from fat to fab after being put on a physical regimen prescribed by his trainer. Combined with expert nutritionist advice, the rapper managed to drop up to 30 pounds and now looks like a fraction of his actual age. As of 2018, Dre was declared the third richest hip hop figure ever, having around $770M in his pocket.

Jerry Ferrara – 55 pounds

For Jerry Ferrara, no price can be put on a healthy lifestyle. Thus Jerry Ferrara chose to pursue a healthier lifestyle after many years of being overweight. The Entourage and Power star employed the help of a nutritionist and a trainer to achieve his weight loss goals and, today, he is undoubtedly a far cry from his days as a chubby comedian. He sure looks like he might be cast as a bad boy pretty soon, given the odds. It is a win-win for the actor for sure. He married Breanne Racano in 2017 and they have one child.

 Zach Galifianakis – 50 pounds

Zach Galifianakis enjoyed world attention following the success of his movie The Hangover. He reprised his role in the sequels and appeared in other successful projects as well, capitalizing on his comedic talent which was tied to his weight, no doubt about it. However, Galifianakis decided to take proactive measures towards ensuring that he got back on track with his health, after facing some ominous prognosis. After quitting the booze and exercising regularly, the actor began making marked progress. Zach then shocked everyone with his red carpet appearance in 2015, with no beard and with around 50lbs less. Today, he is nearly unrecognizable.

Alec Baldwin – 60 pounds

Alec Baldwin is an actor who needs no special introduction. His roles and movies have certainly left their mark in the history of the seventh art. However, the actor was merely slightly overweight when he received a pre-diabetic diagnosis which set him straight immediately, that and his wife, Hilaria Thomas, whom Alec married in 2012. Soon enough, he was well on his way to a healthier lifestyle, and after cutting out refined sugar, incorporating healthier eating habits and working out regularly, Baldwin lost an impressive 60 pounds. 50 Cent – 55 pounds

50 Cents’ reason for embarking on a weight loss was anything but typical. The rapper, actor, and producer simply chose to make his portrayal of a cancer patient in his movie Things Fall Apart seem believable. Thus, he went on a rigorous regime and routinely exercised until he was left looking quite sickly and disturbingly skinny. Thankfully, he made a full turn-around after the conclusion of the movie. 50 Cent’s upcoming sixth album Street King Immortal release date is still TBA, while its initial release was expected all the way back in 2011.

Ruben Studdard – 119 pounds

After gaining popularity for winning the second season of American Idol, R&B and gospel musician Reuben Studdard was set on the fast track to fame and fortune. His Type 2 diabetes diagnosis, however, set him on a path of self-realization and soon enough, the signer began considering various means to beat obesity. Studdard’s participation in The Biggest Loser saw him drop an impressive 119 pounds without any procedure being done on him, and perhaps he might go even further with a few more tweaks in his newfound regime. Meanwhile, you have to agree that he looks quite dashing.

Chris Pratt – 60 pounds

While auditioning for the role of Guardians of the Galaxy Chris Pratt was a whopping 300 pounds and probably not considering doing anything about it. After all, he was raking in the big bucks and building a full proof bank account for himself.  But then, after realizing that he could potentially be turned down, Pratt managed to somehow lose an excess of 60 pounds all in less than six months. But with a savings account, as loaded as his, nothing is unimaginable.

Shonda Rhimes – 117 pounds

World-renowned writer and Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has been successful in a lot of aspects, but her weight remained on shaky ground. After the birth of her third child, however, Rhimes decided to focus on becoming a better version of herself like she narrates. And with a strict diet and intense workout routine, she managed to not only trim down but also look like she aged backward. As her bank account permits, she continues to undertake a few more procedures to stay in top shape.

Adam Richman – 70 pounds

Considering that Adam Richman used to host a show which was competitive-eating themed, his weight gain is entirely understandable. The host eventually took back the reins of his life following the conclusion of the show and adopted an entirely vegan diet complete with an exercise regimen that guaranteed to yield great results. The dividends of his hard work paid off, and Richman is now 70 pounds lighter – even without gastric sleeve surgery; Now that, undoubtedly, had saved his savings account quite some hassle.

Wayne Knight – 117 pounds

After snagging the role of the mailman on Seinfeld, Wayne Knight’s life and checking account were forever turned around. Despite his profound success, the comic act battled with his weight tremendously without much success as well (very much like a bad credit loan). Somehow, Knight finally got the hang of things and began making healthier choices. And seeing as he took the route of dieting and workout rather than gastric bypass, we cannot help but be filled with admiration for the star. He is 40 pounds down today, and quite dapper.

Despite failing at several attempts, Ricky Gervais wanted to be a pop star by all means. Fortunately, he found his footing in comedy and became a public figure regardless of previous failures and soon became a force to be reckoned with in the world of comedy. Eventually, Gervais engaged a fitness trainer and nutritionist which caused his bank account to take quite the hit (what did his financial advisor has to say, we wonder) but managed to leave him looking like a million bucks. Love, love, love the new look!

Forest Whitaker – 80 pounds

Forest Whitaker boasts a remarkable number of films, one of which is The Last King of Scotland where his performance bagged him an Oscar. While the 55-year-old wasn’t necessarily obese, he adopted a new lifestyle that made him lose an unprecedented amount of weight. The actor was said to have gone full vegan, and after eliminating meat from his diet began to drop sizes quite rapidly till he peaked at 80 pounds less than he used to be. He looks like he has dropped a few years along with the sizes.

Ricky Lake – 120 pounds

TV host, actress, and producer Ricky Lake has been known for being overweight for a significant portion of her career, but 20 years after starring in Hairspray – a production that marked a career turn-around for her, the formerly 260-pound Richy has revealed a 120-pound weight loss. This time, the actress admits she has learned to lose weight correctly, and weight loss felt like redeeming a slew of personal loans that she owed her body. But while the transformation left a small dent in her bank account, Lake admits that it was a dent that was well worth it.

Kathy Kinney – 50 pounds

Kathy Kinney played the eccentric and bizarre character of MiMi on the Drew Carrey Show and went on to act in several other TV shows and movies, including Arachnophobia, Stanley & Iris, Lenny the Wonder Dog, Three Fugitives, and Scrooged. What happened to the hilarious MiMi we know from the Drew Carrey show? IMDB suggests that the veteran comedian has been quite busy. She even guest starred on NBC’s family show ‘Baby Daddy’s and had her own YouTube channel by the name ‘Mrs. P’. Since she has visibly trimmed down a lot, we wonder when and how she will find the time to undergo a gastric bypass surgery.

Janet Jackson – 60 pounds

World-renowned pop-singer Janet Jackson is as famous for her music, as she is for her yo-yo weight. While Jackson boasts a robust bank account given her protracted Hollywood career. The 32-year-old actress and singer Raven-Simoné has shed some weight too! If you take a look at the two photos shown above, you will probably think that she underwent some kind of a surgery to look like this (photo on the right). But no. Her new look is purely the result of hard work. The former Disney Channel star lost 70 pounds back in 2011 but we are still amazed by her transformation. She now maintains her stunning figure by hitting the gym frequently.

Beyoncé – 65 pounds

Getting rid of the post-baby weight is not an easy task and even celebs cannot escape it. Music star Beyonce struggled with some weight after she gave birth to her daughter Blue Ivy, but determination and hard work quickly paid off. Her weight loss secret is reportedly a vegan diet. She also added that the new diet improved her skin and gave her more energy. She has praised her fitness trainer Marco Borges for that. Beyonce lost 65 pounds after she had her daughter in 2012.

Jennifer Gimenez – 100 pounds

The reality star, actress, and model Jennifer Gimenez went through a real jaw-dropping transformation after joining Sober House. When Gimenez accepted the offer, she was very insecure about her weight since she gained about 102 pounds during her drug addiction recovery. Writer Stephenie Meyer lost 20 pounds by taking up running. It’s a simple yet very effective way to shed some pounds and it proved effective for the Twilight author too. Fitness experts claim that running is one of the best forms of cardio and it is also one of the quickest ways to slim down. The bestselling writer added that her sister’s support was also very important in her weight loss journey.

Carlos Mencia 70 pounds

The comedian Carlos Mencia joined the long list of celebs who lost a lot of weight and looked better than ever. His doctor said that the former footballer was in a very good health without any problems whatsoever.

The lead singer and songwriter of the hard rock band Heart, Ann Wilson struggled to keep her weight under control her whole life. On top of that, her knees and joints ached. He lost all that weight without lifting a finger.

Best known as the director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson lost some serious weight but he didn’t rely on any of the popular diets in order to achieve that. Being celebrity isn’t easy as you’re always in the spotlight and your fans carefully watch your every transformation, and Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn is no exception. During the final season of the series, it was obvious that the actress gained a few extra pounds and even though she couldn’t be called overweight, she couldn’t hide from the vicious comments.
